Lowered Minimum Innings For Shortened 1st Week – New Precedent

Good Morning Fellow Managers,

Often (and in the recent past), the first full fantasy baseball week is a combination of a short week plus the following week. For example, CoMeesh is playing Pampered Birds this week which started on Wednesday (opening day) and on Monday I would continue playing Pampered Birds for another seven days. That “long” week would be 12 days. All other weeks would be seven days.

However, this year the first full fantasy week is “short.” Opening day was Wednesday and on Monday CoMeesh will be playing The Beekeepers (Hunter), making the first week only five days.

There is no commissioner setting to pick whether we have a long or short first week. This decision is made by the Yahoo Gods.

Because of the shortened week almost no team would be able to make their pitching minimum requirement of 30 innings, leading every team to get 0’s in all pitching categories. Manager of Pampered Birds, Franky, points out that he saw a banner saying Yahoo would ignore the minimum innings setting. He shared a screenshot from another league with the banner. However, I did not see the banner in our league.

Out of an abundance of caution, I have used the commissioner’s tools to lower the pitching requirement for only the first week to 15 innings. I will change it back to 30 on Monday. I have added a precedent to our website.

Thank you to manager Christian of the LA Nasty Yakkers team for brining this to my attention this morning.
